Prof. Joshua Akande is a Professor of Adult and Community Education in the Department of Adult and Lifelong Learning at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. Olusola Akande’s research focuses on community education, community development, adult and community health education, adult and lifelong learning and rural education. Olusola is particularly interested in the integration of indigenous community education to the contemporary studies in adult and community education.
Olusola is also motivated to the application of adult learning theories to address issues in community education and community development. He has also worked in the area of community participation in solving environmental issues. He has also carried out research work in the area of alleviating poverty in Africa using adult education as a toolbox. He is a pastor and he is married with children and a grandchild.
